Wishing Everyone a Blessed New Year

This is the year of the political advertisements that will bombard us on TV.  Each candidate will try to convince us that they have a plan to "fix" America and its myriad of social, moral and economic problems.  Their marketing team will make certain to play on our emotions with pictures that evoke a longing for or past memory of America, land of the free and the brave.  We will sift through graphs and numbers of an astounding array made to project the dire straits we are in and the success we'll all enjoy when the politician has made right the wrong.
Eventually, we'll change channels or sit, with eyes glazed over, not listening to a word of the promise.  We've learned that's the way of politics in a nation that pursues the freedom to choose.
Politicians may have their ideas and aspirations for this country, but so do most of the voting citizens.  All of the debates and discussions between differing political parties and within those parties can get confusing.  We wonder who does have the best plan for our country's future?
King David, considered to be one of the Israel's greatest governors, inspired by God Himself, penned these wise words of counsel in Psalms 118:8,9:
"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes."
Let that counsel be our standard through this political season.  Pray for wisdom in choosing the right person(s) to lead our nation.
